Baby Snow
Pants
Some parents may opt to buy a
full snowsuit for their baby, but this is not always the most
economical way to handle the winter weather. Because the times
that you might use the full snowsuit may be limited, it might
be a better choice to purchase baby snow pants and a winter coat
separately. This will definitely give you more options when
dressing your tot for the winter weather. Most of the time, you
will probably just need to put a winter coat on your baby. On
especially blustery days, or for those days where you want to
take a stroller ride or play in the snow, then you would use
the baby snow pants, too.
Baby snow pants should be soft
inside, and are usually lined with fleece or some other cozy
material. They should have a water resistant or waterproof
outer layer, and a layer of some type of insulation, like Gore
Tex. Remember that babies get colder than adults, especially if
they are just riding in a stroller. If they are moving around,
perhaps playing in the snow, then they will not catch a chill
as quickly. You will want to make sure that the baby snow pants
are not too bulky and that they don’t restrict your
baby’s ability to move around freely.
Also, if the material is too bulky, then you will have a
difficult time strapping your child into a stroller or
car seat when necessary.

When you have a winter coat
and snow pants separately, it can be easier to dress and
undress your baby during the winter. Plus, a quick diaper
change is easier when you only have to remove the pants!
Lastly, if you choose to have a separate coat and snow pants,
then you can easily remove the baby snow pants when you get in
the car, which can help prevent your baby from becoming
overheated during the car ride.
