Fleece
Snowsuit
Generally speaking, babies
need one more layer than adults do when they go outside in the
winter. They move around less, when they are not yet
walking independently, and they have a smaller body mass that
does not produce much warmth like a child's or adult's body
does, so they can catch a chill more quickly. A
fleece snowsuit
can offer the perfect solution. Your baby is probably already
dressed in warmer regular clothing, so the additional
layer of a fleece snowsuit can be just enough extra warmth to
make the difference.
Fleece is a nice option when
it comes to baby outerwear for the winter outdoors. It is
lightweight and soft, and it is a material that washes well,
even after numerous cycles through the washer and dryer. A
fleece snowsuit that has arm and leg openings will not
interfere at all with the safety straps on a stroller or car
seat, either. Because the material is not very bulky, it will
keep the baby warm without restricting their movement too
much. Keep in mind that babies not only get colder easier and
more quickly than adults, but they can also overheat faster,
too. Make sure that if you are taking a longer car ride, you
unzip the fleece snowsuit so that your baby
doesn’t get too hot.
Fleece snowsuits come in many
different styles and patterns. Some are easier to get on and
off your baby than others, depending on the
design—zippers and Velcro can be easier
to use than fiddling with tiny snaps. Also, some
fleece snowsuits will have snaps in the crotch area that
will allow you to have easy access for emergency diaper
changes, without having to completely remove the whole
snowsuit.
Below: a fleece snowsuit can be fleece
both inside and out, or can have an outer waterproof and
wind-resistant shell covering; gray with stars by Mini Boden;
pink with print by Little Bird; dark blue with attached mittens
by Juicy Couture, and pale blue by Emile Et Rose.

You can find fleece in any
color or pattern—little girls may look adorable in
the pinks and purples, while boys look sharp in bright
blues, reds or greens. Patterns such as flowers or
butterflies for girls and vehicles, dinosaurs or cartoon
characters are popular for boys.
